Katsuki Masako

(Katsuki Masako)

(Please note that you may not use any of the black-and-white photos on this page. Thanks! ^_^)

Kaioh Michiru is an excellent character, but without the vocal talent of seiyuu (voice actor :P) Katsuki Masako, Michiru would never have been brought to "life" the way she has been and the way we have come to know and love her. Katsuki's smooth, elegant, and flirtatious voice is perfect for Michiru, and is a wonderful complement for Ogata Megumi's husky/brooding Haruka voice.

The best part about Katsuki's voice acting as Michiru is that while Michiru usually sounds quiet, cool, and elegant, her voice can get extremely expressive, emotional, and intense. Anyone who has felt their heart jump when Sailor Neptune screams in pain in episode 110 or who has heard Michiru shout out Haruka's name will KNOW how talented Katsuki really is and what amazing character she brings to the role of Kaioh Michiru/Sailor Neptune. Moreover, if you've heard Katsuki sing "Senshi no Omoi" (Michiru's SailorStars image song), you'd know that the girl can SING, too. :P As a seiyuu Katsuki's talent is underrated and it's a shame that her fan following isn't larger.

Katsuki Masako (true name: Shiono Masako) was born on 15 October 1959 in Aomori, which means she's a Libra, just like Minako. -_- Also, if you really want to know, her blood type is A, ^_^ which means she has the same blood type as Mamoru, Setsuna, and Ami. o_o;;; She works for 81 Produce, a company that also employs Seki Toshihiko, another of my favorite seiyuu. She has a solo CD called Ame ha Suki Desu Ka, released on 21 February 1993. If you want to order it, the catalog number is CRCP-15004. I don't have the CD myself so I make no recommendations one way or another. ^_^

Katsuki is probably most noted for her role as Kaioh Michiru/Sailor Neptune in Bishoujo Senshi Sailormoon, but she has also appeared in popular series such as Shinseiki Evangelion, Ranma Nibun no Ichi, Dragonball GT, Jigoku Sensei Nube, Maison Ikkoku, Megami Paradise, Miyuki-chan in Wonderland, and Urusei Yatsura. Katsuki made her debut in White Fang as the voice of Mary Scott.
