| You came to me! Like a cross between Brendan Fraser and Ty Pennington, oh, baby! Waving "HI!" to me as the eye on your palm gave me a slow wink and put my mind at ease, gold circles around my neck and a toga of crimson and ochre, floating high, oh no! You came to me! Surfer dude accent covering Southern drawl and your hair smelled like sea and salt and quahoggy sky, snails like the kind skewered out with toothpicks and then dipped in a spicy red sauce, oh baby! I want your shell even as I cough all over it and stroke your whorls, oh baby I can change the whorl for you! You came to me! Lips like warm water, smooth legs spreading out like the translucent green arms of the anemones I saw at Bodega, oh! Legs that would curl back in as I prodded with my warm digit! Anemones covered with water and chlorine and clear liquid salt, oh bitter salt! You came to me! Shirt off in the sun, and you looked like Apollo, but a stupid Apollo, because you forgot to use sunscreen! But a strong Apollo too, as you rolled me into your arms and we tumbled onto the powdered glass like wrestlers, like two eagles killing in the hot snow, oh, let us roast and let it snow! You came to me! Wide eyes and scruffy hair, wide open stare! Stare like a man with a mission, like a dog, like a man on drugs or with nothing to lose! Same difference, you say? Oh ho! What do you know, with your dark red tie and your in-love-with-yourself voice, you hypocritical rube? You came to me! Sardonic and dark, like Carl Sagan with a John Cusack 'tude! Like Dylan McDermott and Eric McCormack acting nasty and rude, oh! Like McCormick, you were irradiated spices in a bottle, colorful and hot and adding a new dimension of flavor, and oh, my tongue couldn't take too much of you! You came to me! Humming in pentatonic, putting your skinny arms around my waist and crooning sexy noises in my ear! Humming as we stood on the dirty night beach away from the fire, and you broke out into Mandarin as you sang to me and the night, oh, vulnerable and beautiful to the air! You came to me! Wearing orange and blue like Dukes of Hazzard, like a tawny-skinned pile-up near L.A.! Oh, you quavered under my touch in the light of cocoa mint and carrot and honeybees on gold-plated caps, smile uncertain and eyes filled with as much waver as cheap Gran Spumante! Oh, yes! You came to me! Eyebrows raised and maniacal glint like a younger version of my boss, and my mind went blank as you raised my arms over my head, kissed my biceps, oh! And my vision fast went to sparks against black and mentality cut off like your eyes of translucent salt, like your hair shining like sun, like your shirt off in the sea! |
