Why the Brewer Twins Suck
The Brewer twins are a pair of gorgeous young models, twin brothers, who are quite popular with young gay males. The ongoing rumor was that they might both be gay or bi, but the basic attitude has been that whatever their sexuality was, they were darn cute and a lot of their photos were directed at the gay male market, and that's all that mattered. :P
So why do these blond gods suck if they're so cool and hot? Well, recently, the Brewer twins and their agent criticized XY, a magazine made by and for gay male youth. Basically the Brewer twins or their agent said that they didn't want to appear in the magazine because they didn't want people to think they were gay guys or something, and anyway, they didn't want to appear in a trash magazine.
Well frankly, if you've seen some of the Brewer twins' bolder pictures as I have and if you've also read XY as I have, you'd know that for them to call XY "trash" is rather hypocritical. True, I have very little respect for XY and in many ways I do think it IS a trash magazine, but all I'm saying is that for the Brewer twins to pass that sort of judgment when they can be and have been just as trashy is like the pot calling the kettle black.
What irks me even more is that the Brewer twins have been courting the gay male market for so long, and now they're saying they don't want to be associated in any way with gays. In other words, if gay people buy their posters and photos, they'll take their money, but they don't want to have anything to do with gays otherwise. Great philosophy. Frankly I feel like a fool for having admired the twins, however brief a period that admiration lasted.
This two-faced attitude towards gays is one harbored by so many people. Like I say in my "In the Navy" rant, it's the same attitude that the American government has, where openly gay people are banned from voluntary military service but are required to sign up for the draft anyway in case more people are needed. It marks Christians who say that my being gay will send me into an eternal torment that I richly deserve but who will also gladly take my money anyway if I put five dollars into the offering plate.
What I'm trying to say is that the Brewer twins suck because they embody the attitude that so many people have: that gay people are only good if you can get something out of them.
