Aino Minako - Opinion Piece

| Opinion on Aino Minako Minako is my second favorite Inner Senshi. As I point out in my Hino Rei opinion piece, I don't care for any of the Inner Senshi that much (especially in comparison to the Outer Senshi), but Minako is my second favorite, mainly due to the fact that she is so damn FUNNY in the anime. ;) Minako is usually the one out of all the Inner Senshi who most often cracks a joke or is chatty and upbeat, and while Usagi shares this quality to some extent, Minako has a certain sensibility and level-headedness that Usagi doesn't... at least usually! *L* ^^; Also, Minako's past as Sailor V always intrigues me, and she's really gorgeous, at least in the manga (and no, I'm not saying that looks are everything *L* xp). ^_^ The only reason I don't like her as much as Rei is because I feel her character is less developed than Rei's. I do like her better than Ami and Makoto though: in my opinion, neither of them are nearly as funny or as interesting as Minako. Opinion on Minako's Transformations and Attacks Frankly, I think Minako's attack and transformation sequences were all very blah, and it's another reason I don't like her as much as Rei. They weren't badly done or anything, just boring. "Crescent beam" was a thin line of light, "love me chain" was a line of glowing hearts, and "love and beauty shock" was a circle of hearts that became one. Yay? :p *L* The only one of her transformation sequences I truly liked was her Super Sailor transformation, since the colors were done much more nicely in that one than in the previous two. Opinion on Minako's Duds I really dislike Minako's Senshi outfit: it's not ugly, it's just too cluttered and annoying. She has this red bow in her hair, orange on her middy collar and skirt, yellow for the ribbon tied at the back of her skirt, and greeny-blue for the ribbon covering her chest... She's almost like a messed-up rainbow! :p Other than that, I think Minako looks her prettiest in her first school uniform - when she's not in that uniform, the other civilian clothes she wears tends to look a little too childish/cutesy/dollish for her age. |
