20 March 1999 - Defense of the Original
- flames received concerning the Citadel -
| Here is the first flame I want to display, which I received in my guestbook: Guest: Alyssa Rhodes (using Mozilla/2.0 (compatible; MSIE 3.0; Windows 95), 207.206.45.227) Date: 20 March 1999 16:27 Alias (if any): My Gender Is: Female. Birthdate: 30 March (year not given) My Zodiac Sign: Aries (Mar. 21 - Apr. 20) Homepage: I Come from: I found this site through Net Search, and I must say, your HTML work deserves a C. I came to see Ganymede's Tuxedo Kamen Shrine, and the site I liked the best is Ganymede's Tuxedo Kamen Shrine. I'm very sexy too, and my favorite cuisine is Japanese. By the way, this is my first time signing this guestbook, and who's Ikeda Mitsuru? -_- Alright, listen you..... your site and the pictures were great. BUT about DiC's cut ups. Yes, they are cut up, but at least it brought Sailor Moon to America. AND it's in engilsh. Not to mention the fact that it airs on CARTOON NETWORK! Mabey you should pay a little more attention to what's happening with SOS first, before pretenting to know it all. SOS is at least getting Sailor Moon in America, and Cartoon Network (along with DiC) is the only station that agreed to air it. SO THERE. Next time run a backround check before you run your mouth. P.S. Look, I totally agree with you that they should show original versions...BUT then you'd have to get, like HBO or something to play it. And it takes$$$$$. ---------- This Alyssa girl wrote her entry some time ago, when I ranted about the fact that when DiC first brought Sailormoon to America, they made unnecessary cuts and deliberately dumbed down the show in order to make it more appealing to the mainstream. I also ranted about how S.O.S., an organization dedicated to bringing Sailormoon to America, ruined the show by making false claims about the sexuality of two lesbian characters. "Alyssa" jumped to DiC and S.O.S.'s defense, and so here is my response: <<listen you.....>> Who, me? ^.^ <<about DiC's cut ups. Yes, they are cut up, but at least it brought Sailor Moon to America.>> Well, in my view, I'd rather watch something in its original form than some mutilated form that's been imported in and tailored for the mainstream tastes of the receiving country's lowest common denominator. This isn't an elitist thing - it's a question of wanting to see something and experience it the way it was originally intended to be experienced instead of the way some random purchasing TV company decides it should be experienced by their viewers. <<AND it's in engilsh.>> Is the fact that the show is dubbed into "Engilsh" [sic] supposed to justify the cutting and manipulating of various scenes and entire episodes for no important reason? <<Mabey you should pay a little more attention to what's happening with SOS first, before pretenting to know it all. SOS is at least getting Sailor Moon in America, and Cartoon Network (along with DiC) is the only station that agreed to air it.>> And "mabey" you should pay closer attention to what I said before jumping to conclusions. My issue was that DiC cut and "dumbed down" the episodes while S.O.S. tried to spread homophobic lies about the show in an attempt to increase its acceptability. I have no problem with Sailormoon being brought to America properly - in fact, Pioneer is doing just that, by releasing DVDs of Sailormoon episodes, all uncut, available in English AND in Japanese. No cutting of scenes, no airbrushing of lines, no B.S. about lesbians being "really close cousins." Pioneer is doing it right. <<I totally agree with you that they should show original versions...BUT then you'd have to get, like HBO or something to play it.>> HBO? Excuse me? Sailormoon is not Sex and the City. *rofl* XD Obviously Sailormoon is more adult than Pokémon, but it's not any worse than any random Disney movie that's been out recently. *L* <<SO THERE. Next time run a backround check before you run your mouth.>> "SO THERE"? Maybe you should run a maturity check before you run your own. ^_^ ---------- Amusing, eh? ^^; I don't understand how people can be so immature as to mouth off with "listen you" and "SO THERE" and expect to be taken seriously, especially when they've totally missed the point of what my webpages had actually said... Ah well. *L* ;_; That's the end of this first one! ^_^ |
