Tenoh Haruka - Opinion Piece
| Opinion on Tenoh Haruka I love all four of the Outer Senshi, but Haruka is the one I empathize with the least. I do like her better than Setsuna just because I think Haruka is much more interesting and complex a character than Setsuna, but that's it. I do like the Outers better than the Inners though, so even if I do not personally identify with Haruka, I like her a lot better than any of the Inner Senshi. What I love about Haruka is her charisma: if she is in a scene, you cannot watch without staring at her for a while. She is very androgynous, from her good looks to her deep, husky voice, and that combined with her strong character and personality gives her an amazing "screen presence," even in funny or quiet scenes. She can be abrupt, cold, and ruthless, but she also loves Michiru, she is protective of Usagi, she is wonderful at the piano, and she is damn good not only at everything she tries but also at capturing one's attention, making her a very intriguing and interesting heroine. I normally don't like characters like Rei who are softer on the inside but all tough on the outside to the point of abruptness, rudeness, and even cruelty, but Haruka manages to strike a chord in me anyway, and though she is only my third favorite Outer Senshi, that is still relatively high on my list of favorite Sailormoon characters. Opinion on Haruka's Transformations and Attacks The first thing Haruka-related I saw was a clip of her transformation sequence online, and I was immediately hooked. Haruka and Michiru have the best transformation sequences out of ALL the Senshi, and in Haruka's specifically, the effect is quite dramatic. In fact, one of my ex-boyfriends happily proclaimed, "Oh, shit!" when he first saw that sequence - it's that good! :D Not only does Ogata Megumi does such a great job of shouting out the transformation phrase, but the animation itself is truly just... wow. You have to see it. :p The scene is great to watch over and over again; Haruka and Michiru's transformations are the best part of the Sailormoon S movie. *L* Haruka's "world shaking" attack is awesome too - the animation for it is VERY well done, from the close-up of Haruka's hand at the beginning to the close-up of her face near the end of sequence. The speed and power of the attack are awesome as well, and you cannot help but be impressed. In comparison, Haruka's "space sword blaster" attack is pretty lame. Just stick to "world shaking," Haruka. ^^;;; *L* Opinion on Haruka's Duds I definitely think that when she's not in Senshi form, Haruka looks her best in the male Mugen Gakuen uniform she wears... hot damn! XD She looks like a cute blond guy when she wears that uniform! Urr, he he... anyway! *_*; I prefer Haruka's Sailor Uranus outfit to her Super Sailor Uranus outfit because the Sailor Uranus outfit is drawn better and is more clean, simple, and tasteful. Plus Haruka just looks better with one earring instead of two. ;D *L* |
